The counselling I offer is humanistic and integrative, this means I use a range of therapeutic and creative approaches to tailor to your individual needs.
I work as an Integrated Humanistic Counsellor and believe that everyone given the right conditions is capable of making use of their own inner resources to enable personal growth, self-awareness and healing.
'"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." Carl Rogers, 1961
I am a fully qualified registered counsellor having completed a BACP Accredited Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a member, I'm bound by and adhere to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
This maybe the first time you've decided to come for counselling, or your returning to explore further. What ever the issue(s), counselling enables you the space to explore and work with your feelings in the here and now, to seek new ways of dealing with the past, and/or to find ways to resource yourself, that free you from old patterns of behaviour or coping strategies that may limit you to experiencing life fully.
I believe the humanistic approach enables counselling to be uniquely tailored to you by using three different modalities of Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt so that you can see what works for you.
I will work with you to offer an empathic, non-judgemental, confidential space. I believe developing a relationship with you is central to working collaboratively and effectively. We can work on a short or long term basis with the emphasis being led by you.
Finding the right counsellor can be daunting process and therefore I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation. During this time we can discuss what you would like to explore, explain how counselling works and its also your opportunity to ask me any questions and consider if you would like to go ahead with further sessions.
